Harsh & Hazardous is part of the Hubbell Electrical Systems division. We are comprised of long established and well respected manufacturing companies. Each brand is known as a leader within their respective market. Our reputations are built upon an ongoing commitment to quality and customer service. As such all our brands are ISO 9001:2000 approved and certified to manufacture goods for use in hazardous areas.

Together, we have grown and continue to grow through strategic acquisition. The timeline shows how we have developed to become Hubbell Harsh & Hazardous. A dedicated group that offers you a complete package of leading products and services for the world's most demanding environments:
- 1985 - Killark acquisition
- 1987 – Hubbell acquires a portion of FEMCO from Gulton, Inc which becomes the Hubbell Industrial Controls Division; while GAI-Tronics acquires the remaining FEMCO business.
- 1997 – GAI-Tronics acquires DAC Specialised Communications
- 1998 - Chalmit acquired from Whitecroft Lighting
- 1999 – GAI-Tronics acquires Irmel S.r.l.
- 2000 – Hubbell acquires GAI-Tronics and all its subsidiaries
- 2003 - Hawke joins the Hubbell group
- 2005 - Victor Lighting & Transtar acquired from Federal Signal
- 2006 - Austdac is the latest addition to the Harsh & Hazardous group
